Statisticalrules:

1.Score: average scores, not thehighest scores (the actual running results may fluctuate, which is a normalphenomenon).

2.Period of data statistics: May 1,2017 to May 31, 2017.

3.Data amount: at least 1000 datasamples for a single model.

According to our most updated ranking list, in May, the performance advantage of iPhone 7 series of products is gone, and HTC U 11overtook iPhone 7 Plus to become the best performance smartphone of May. Inaddition, iPhone 7 was surpassed by Xiaomi Mi 6 and Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+. Inorder to find out the reason for the score reduction of iPhone 7/7 Plus, weanalyzed the data from Antutu backstage and found that the score reductionmainly concentrated on single-core section and UX section, and thus wespeculate that it might be caused by the upgrade of iOS 10.3.

The abovechart is the overall performance ranking list of May as measured bythe average Antutu score, and includes both Android smartphonesand iOS smartphones. We also included separate lists based on differentoperating systems to help you better understand the list. First let’s have alook at the iOS list.

Since therewere no new iOS models released in May, and the rankings of the iOS devicesshowed little fluctuations compared to our previous results in April, thereforewe won't go into too much detail about it. Next, let’s have a look atthe Android list.

From theAndroid list, we can see that HTC U11 overtook Galaxy S8+ to become the best performance Android phone of May with an averageAntutu score of 180,079. This model is powered by the brand-new Snapdragon 835mobile platform, with CPUclock speed of up to 2.45 GHz, paired with Adreno 540GPU, and offers memory combination of 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi Mi 6 also surpassed Galaxy S8/ Galaxy S8+ and ranked second on the list withan average Antutu score of 172,494. Xiaomi Mi 6 is also powered by Snapdragon835 mobile platform with CPU clock speed of up to 2.45 GHz, and offers 6 GB ofRAM.

Galaxy S8 and S8+ ranked third and fourthrespectively with narrow gap. The overall configuration of these two models arealmost the same, therefore scores of the two models are very close. Anyway, SamsungGalaxy S8/S8 + undoubtedly deserves its high-end flagship position for itsrevolutionary design and strong hardware configuration, and it can somehowremedy the negative influence caused by Samsung’s last generation flagship Note7.

Others on the top 10 list were OnePlus 3T (fifth), OnePlus3 (sixth), LeEco Le Pro3 (seventh), LeEco Le Max2 (eighth), ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ninth), and ZTE Axon 7 (tenth).

Generally speaking, it’s surprising to findthat the rankings of Android phones surpassed iOS phones for the first time.Although this is mainly caused by the update of iOS new version, it isundeniable that the performance of Android smartphones is becoming increasinglypowerful. In particular, the performance gap between flagship models powered bySnapdragon 835 mobile platform and iOS devices is becoming smaller. Meanwhile, phone makers are trying to add cutting edge technologies to Android flagship devices, such as Infinity Display, Curved Display and etc. Android smartphones willbecome more and more powerful in the future.
